Tuasan Falls, in barangay Mainit in Catarman, is the wilder sibling of Katibawasan: not as tall, but broader and more powerful, roaring into a boulder-strewn pool in a deep green gorge. The spray and the noise make it feel far more remote than it is.
A short walk from the road brings you to the pool. The surrounding area has been developed with steps and viewing points, and it is an easy addition to any west-coast day around the Sunken Cemetery.
What to see and do: Tuasan Falls
Feel the power of the falls
Stand on the rocks by the pool for the full force of the spray. When the flow is moderate, swimming at the edges is possible.
Pair with the cold spring
Continue to Santo Niño Cold Spring for a calmer swim in clear water.
Take your time on the road
The drive up from the coast passes through small farming villages and forest — one of the prettiest inland stretches on the island.

How to get to Tuasan Falls
- Turn inland from the circumferential road in Catarman; the falls are a short drive up from the coast.
- Most full-day land tours include Tuasan; GetYourGuide even lists one tour under “Tuasan Falls”.
- An entrance fee is collected locally.
Insider tips
- Do not swim close to the falling water — the current under it is strong.
- After heavy rain, admire it from a distance.
- Bring insect repellent for the walk.
