Katibawasan Falls dropping in a long white ribbon down a fern-covered cliff into a pool

Katibawasan Falls

A ribbon of water dropping some 70 metres into a cool pool in the forest above Mambajao

Katibawasan Falls is the waterfall on every Camiguin postcard: a thin, tall ribbon of water — roughly 70 metres, by most local accounts — dropping down a cliff hung with ferns and orchids into a cold, rock-ringed pool. It lies in Pandan, on the slopes above Mambajao.

A short paved path leads from the entrance to the pool, so the falls are easy to reach for all ages. The pleasure is in the cool air and a bracing swim; on a hot afternoon it is the best natural air-conditioning on the island.

What to see and do: Katibawasan Falls

Swim in the plunge pool

The water is cold and clear. Stay away from the base of the fall itself, where rocks can fall and the current is strong.

Arrive early

Tour groups arrive mid-morning. At opening time you may have the pool almost to yourself.

Combine with Ardent Hot Spring

Swim in cold water in the morning and soak in warm water at Ardent Hot Spring later — both are above Mambajao.

Insider tips
