Mount Hibok-Hibok rising above the coast — the volcano whose heat warms Ardent Hot Spring

Ardent Hot Spring

Volcano-warmed pools on the forested slopes of Hibok-Hibok — best in the evening

Ardent Hot Spring, in Tagdo on the slopes above Mambajao, is fed by water heated deep inside Mount Hibok-Hibok. The spring flows into a series of stone-lined pools in a forested resort, the water pleasantly warm rather than scalding — and warmest in the pool nearest the source.

The best time is late afternoon or after dark, when the air cools and the steam rises. It is the natural finish to a day of island-hopping or hiking, and some tours deliberately end here.
